Furthermore, it is important to note that drinking untreated and acidic water can result in permanent brain damage and other health issues. People in the rural area are more likely to have access to low pH water. Similarly, acidic or alkali contaminants can enter the water as a result of poor municipal wastewater treatment.

So, how does one know if the water they’re drinking is within a safe pH range? To begin, look for any visible contaminants. While water with a low pH can be damaging to pipes and water-carrying appliances. Third, taste the water being drank. The water is most likely acidic if the water taste sour or metallic. When the water is too basic, it will taste bitter.

It is always good to check for the quality of drinking water at residences to impose possible health problems due to abnormal pH level.
